About Us
I started John Allen Design in 1998. I am registered with the National Council of Building Designer Certification. I enjoy residential design because of the close interaction with the people who will live in my design. I find satisfaction in helping my clients design more than just a house, but a home. While I take pride in my artistic ability, I realize this means nothing if I fail to listen to my client. Customer satisfaction is my priority which I achieve through a listening ear, attention to details and respect for my client’s needs and desires. Ultimately, the client is in control of the direction of the design and my job is to ensure the client receives their desire. My goal is to create a home that reflects the personalities, interests, and passions of the people who will live in it. For example, see the story (and pictures) of the house we built for ourselves. We called the project our Glass House.
“There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor.” Ecclesiastes 2:24a
While I love my business, I maintain numerous interests and activities outside of my work. First and foremost is my family. In 2003 I married my lovely wife Suzanne; and since we have had two beautiful sons, Jack and James. Life with two boys is busy, but it sure is fun! I enjoy swimming and running and once ran the San Diego marathon. I also enjoy the outdoors, an interest fostered by growing up as a Boy Scout. As an Eagle Scout, I still enjoy a good outdoor adventure; an interest that has taken me from Denali Park in Alaska to the Napali Coast in Kauai, Hawaii. My most recent passion is motorcycling. In October of 2009 I bought a Ducati Monster, and by riding in the hill country, I clear my mind and refresh my spirit.
